About This Project

Manapan is owned and operated by the Yolngu people of Arnhem Land and backed by Alpa, a not for profit organisation. Here in Milingimbi, Manapan carefully hand make each coffin and all work is carried out by our local Indigenous craftsmen with the utmost compassion and empathy. Our coffins represent a celebration of life while maintaining a deep respect for the deceased and traditional connections within indigenous culture and their ancestral beings. Manapan’s environmental policy guarantees all our coffins are constructed from timbers that carry a sustainable forest certification and that our handles are made from fully biodegradable woven hemp rope. The design, though simple has beautiful lines and built to a high standard of quality. Our current range consists of three standard sizes; extra large, standard and infant. We can also accommodate for any sizes in between and can make a coffin to suit your needs. We can also provide traditional artwork for the coffin to represent community/ family belonging
