Architect and interior designer Ashleigh Parker initially trained in interior design at the South Australian Institute of Technology (SAIT) before going on to study architecture, also at SAIT. Completing his architecture degree at RMIT University, Melbourne, Parker has quickly established a reputation in the area of retail design. He now runs a very successful design practice dealing with some of the world’s finest brands.
Parker has always dabbled in designing furniture for retail fit-outs. He was always drawn to Scandinavian Modern, which grew out of the Bauhaus movement in German from the early 20th century. “I think it’s the innovation of the Danish, using moulded plywood rather than solid timber.”
